After a beautiful memorial day weekend...

Hello again,

I am just trying to get used to the blogging thing, so I am going to try keep up the habit of posting every few days to keep you updated on what's going on with Creative Birth Choices. Today, Corina, Sara and I are working on getting our bios together so that you can have an easy reference to quickly get to know just a little about each of us. Hopefully, that will be up on our blog in a few days, and available by email or request.

Today, one of my more recent doula clients/friends stopped into the ALACE office with her 1 month old BEAUTIFUL boy, Xander. He is amazingly cute and has many a lovely picture posted on Blah-di-Blog, which is a link I have listed on this blog. Xan's mom, Emily, took the doula workshop with ALACE last December and had volunteered at the ALACE office for many months while she was pregnant. It was great to see them today!

Later, I go to a postpartum visit for another recent client. I am so excited to see them for the first time after the birth, bring mom some Mother's Milk Tea, and do what I can to help around the house!

Well, back to work at the ALACE office...small breaks refresh me, but I must go and be a productive workshop coordinator :)

Until next time, be well.

Welcome to Creative Birth Choices Blog!

Welcome!
My name is Gina Forbes and I am one of three doulas who makes up Creative Birth Choices. Sara Kennedy, Corina Pinkerton and I are all professionally trained labor assistants/doulas by ALACE, The Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators (www.alace.org). We are dedicated to supporting women and families through the experience of labor and birth.

Sara, Corina and I met up yesterday for a meeting to discuss the beginning of this great project together. We are working as a collaborative team to advertise and provide back up in our doula work. The energy was so high yesterday and we got so much done! I hope you will be seeing a lot of Creative Birth Choices as we flyer in the Boston area and spread the word about ourselves. We are trying to get a website in the works and we have plenty of ideas that we are in the works of putting together. Corina is getting ready to offer some birth art, like belly casting and henna design. Sara and I are doing some research and compiling our resources so that we can provide optimum support and information for your birth related needs.

We also decided yesterday, that we wanted to start a blog. The idea is to have a professional journal that keeps you updated on our work as doulas. We are currently accepting clients and want you to have a chance to get to know us through our work and philosophies. As we begin our work together, I can tell you this one thing:

Creative Birth Choices is dedicated to trusting in the process of birth, in educating and supporting women and families and in offering you options. We will support you in the type of birth YOU want. We are open-minded, intelligent, compassionate, artistic women who each have our own strengths to offer. What we all have in common is our dedication to our work as doulas and our goal of offering the best emotional, physical, and spiritual support possible to birthing women and their families.

Thanks for checking out our blog and I hope you visit us again in order to get to know each of us better.

Be well,
Gina
